Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear (2024-2025)

This body of work is the result of my MFA research. I use ideas from the contemporary philosopher Federico Campagna who asserts that reality is contingent and open to self-determination. He seeks to unravel our current reality settings and proposes magic as a co-existing mirror world. My paintings respond to this through a reduced colour palette and limited tonal range to create atmospheric surfaces which act as portals. These works become thresholds that facilitate encounters with alternative cosmologies, knowledge systems and different modes of perception.
